Give customers a business number to call and text. Numberline connects that number to your greeting, voicemail, and the phones you choose, so you can manage business calls from the mobile you already use.
Local or toll-free numbers · Rings the mobile you already have · Bring an eligible existing number
A virtual phone number is a phone number managed through a phone service rather than tied to one physical phone or location. Customers dial it like any other number. The service decides what happens next: which phones ring, what callers hear, and where messages go.
With Numberline, customers call your business number and hear your greeting. Numberline then follows your forwarding rules and rings the phones you chose, usually your own mobile. Once texting is enabled, texts to the business number arrive in the Numberline inbox, where you reply as the business. When you call a customer through Numberline, the call goes out from the business number, so they see the business and never your personal number.
Local and toll-free numbers both run on the same Numberline phone system. The difference is what the number looks like to customers and where they are.
A number in a familiar area code, such as 212 for New York or 617 for Boston. Customers recognize it as nearby.
Businesses whose customers are mostly in one city or region. The area code is what customers see when they dial; it does not create an office or a business presence in that area.
Search by city or area code and pick from the US numbers available there. Availability varies by area code. Texting starts after the standard business texting registration is approved.
An 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, or 833 number. It reads national and is not tied to any one city.
Businesses serving customers across regions, or advertising beyond one area. US toll-free numbers are free to call from the US, and usually from Canada.
Availability depends on which numbers are open on each prefix. The same toll-free number handles calls and texts once toll-free verification is approved, a separate carrier check from local registration.
Pick an available local or toll-free number when your setup opens, or bring an eligible number you already have. Availability varies by area code, and porting follows your current carrier’s timeline.
Type your greeting and choose a voice, or record it yourself. Then choose the phones that ring, starting with your mobile. Unanswered calls go to business voicemail, not your personal voicemail.
Answer business calls on your mobile, call back from the business number, and reply to customer texts from the inbox. Texting starts once the required carrier registration for your business is approved.
Every plan includes forwarding, greetings, business voicemail, and the shared inbox. Ringing phones all at once and some advanced features depend on the plan. Compare plans →
