Choose which calls your AI agents answer.

Every agent below is one your business configures with its provider. Numberline decides which calls reach it; the agent decides what to say.

No answer or after hoursReceptionist agent

Example: handling a new project inquiry

A remodeling company assigns its New customer intake agent to the Sales extension. A homeowner presses 1 and the agent asks about the project, the address, the timing, and when to call back. Current customers press 2 and ring the office.

Example conversation
Agent Thanks for calling Northwind Remodeling. What project are you thinking about?
Caller A kitchen remodel. New cabinets and counters, maybe the floor.
Agent Got it. What is the address, and when would you like the work to start?
Caller 14 Harbor Lane, sometime this spring.
Agent Thanks. When is a good time for an estimator to call you back?
Numberline keeps the call in your call history. What the agent collected lives with the provider you configured.

Connect a provider. Choose an agent. Assign its calls.

Create your agent with your AI provider, then connect it to Numberline and choose which calls it answers. Three steps in the Numberline app, planned for launch.

Step 1

Connect an AI provider

From Integrations, or inline when you add a destination, sign in to the provider your agents live on.

Step 2

Choose an agent

Pick an existing agent from your provider account and save it as a Numberline destination, with a name your team will recognize.

Step 3

Assign its calls

Select the destination for an extension, for calls your team cannot answer, or for the after-hours route. Everything else keeps ringing people.

Advanced setup: custom agents and SIP
Built an agent somewhere other than Vapi, Retell, or ElevenLabs? Add it as a custom AI-agent destination and give Numberline the SIP address your platform provides for the agent. Numberline hands the call to that address the way phone systems hand calls to each other. A custom destination counts toward your connected-agent allowance like any other agent. Native provider connections handle the provider-specific call setup for you, so start there when your provider is supported.

One connected agent is one distinct external AI agent added to Numberline as a destination. Using that same agent on several extensions or numbers counts once. The allowance is per Numberline account across providers, and custom AI-agent destinations count too. Connecting a provider or listing its agents does not use it.

Connect agents from your own AI provider. Provider subscription and usage charges are billed separately. Compare everything in each plan →

Questions about connected AI agents

How do connected AI agents work with Numberline?
Numberline manages your business number, greeting, extensions, and routing. You connect your AI provider, choose an agent you already configured there, and save it as a Numberline destination. Then you pick that destination for an extension, for calls your team cannot answer, or for the after-hours route, and Numberline sends those calls to the agent while every other call keeps ringing the people you chose. See how call routing works.
Where do I create and configure the agent?
With your AI provider, such as Vapi, Retell, or ElevenLabs. The agent’s voice, script, questions, and business information live in the provider’s tools. Numberline decides which calls reach it.
Can an AI agent answer Sales while Support rings a person?
Yes. Each extension has its own destination. In the example on this page, Sales forwards to the New customer intake agent and Support forwards to Sarah’s mobile. A two-option menu like that needs Grow or Max, because Lite includes the operator plus one extension.
Can I use the same agent on several extensions?
Yes. Save the agent once as a destination and select it wherever you want it: several extensions, several numbers, calls your team cannot answer, or the after-hours route. It counts as one connected agent no matter how many places use it.
Which providers can I connect?
Vapi, Retell, and ElevenLabs are planned as native connections at launch: you sign in to the provider from Numberline and choose from the agents on your account. Agents you built elsewhere are planned as custom destinations that Numberline reaches over SIP. Join early access and we will confirm which connections are available when your setup opens.
What counts as a connected agent?
One connected agent is one distinct external AI agent added to Numberline as a destination. Using that same agent on several extensions or numbers counts once. The allowance is per Numberline account across all providers, and custom AI-agent destinations count too. Connecting a provider or browsing its list of agents does not use the allowance. Lite includes 1 connected agent, Grow includes 3, and Max is unlimited. The count is not a bundle of AI minutes and does not set how many calls an agent can take at once.
Are AI-provider charges included?
No. Connect agents from your own AI provider. Provider subscription and usage charges are billed separately by that provider. Your Numberline plan covers the number, extensions, routing, and the connected-agent allowance. See pricing.
