This page describes how text messaging works with phone numbers provided by Numberline Inc, how consumers opt in, and the disclosures that apply to every message program run on a Numberline number. It supplements the Terms of Service (see the Text Messaging section) and the Privacy Policy.
The call to action: how a consumer opts in
Numberline's messaging is conversational and consumer-initiated. A business publishes its Numberline phone number on its own website, invoices, email signature, storefront, or business listing, inviting customers to text it. The consumer opts in by sending the first text message to that number. This is what the call to action looks like where a business presents it:
Green Leaf Plumbing
Repairs, installations, and emergency callouts across Sarasota, FL
Questions? Text us at (941) 555-0134By texting this number you agree to receive conversational reply messages from Green Leaf Plumbing about your inquiry. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See Numberline's SMS Terms and Privacy Policy.
Illustrative example. "Green Leaf Plumbing" is a placeholder business name; each business presents this call to action with its own name and its own Numberline number.
What the consumer consents to
- Scope of consent. By sending the first message, the consumer consents to receive conversational replies from that business about the subject of their inquiry. Consent is tied to that business and that conversation.
- Not a condition of purchase. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of purchasing any good or service.
- No marketing, no lists. Numberline does not offer cold-outreach, promotional, recurring, or bulk messaging. Businesses cannot import contact lists and cannot initiate a text to a person who has not first messaged the business's number.
Message frequency & rates
Message frequency varies based on the conversation. There is no scheduled or recurring message cadence. Message and data rates may apply under the recipient's mobile plan. Participating carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
Opt-out & help
A recipient may reply STOP at any time to end messages from a business's number. A clear opt-out request is honored even if it uses different reasonable language. One confirmation of the opt-out may be sent, after which no further messages will be sent from that number unless the recipient later initiates a new conversation or otherwise provides valid consent. Reply HELP for help, or contact support@numberline.com.
Privacy
Mobile information, including mobile telephone numbers, text-message originator opt-in data, and consent records, is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The full policy is at numberline.com/privacy.
